My daughter Ellen that is. I mentioned a few days ago that I would have to shampoo the carpet in here. She told me not to as it does hurt my back with the furniture shifting etc. She came over at 9am this morning to do it while I visited mother, I returned after about 3 hours to find she had not only done the carpet but mopped the kitchen floor and wiped all the worktops and appliances down. Today dawned as bright and sunny as yesterday so after a leisurely breakfast I broke out the boots,back support and strimmer,took a deep breath and set too taming the front garden. I started at 9:45 and by the time I had strimmed both sides of the garden and cleaned the strimmer it was 11:20. I'd taken 2 short breaks for coffee and a rest. Today we had wall to wall sunshine for most of the day and it was a balmy 14c very warm for these parts. I ditched the winter coat and hiking boots and sonned a lighter jack and walking trainers.It was like being released from constraints . it was a very pleasant trip to see my mam and youngest sister We are promised the same tomorrow so hopefully at long last I can make a start on the mini jungle that is the front garden

I went out to feed the birds this morning and spotted the first sign og the garden awakening. A Dafodil in the middle of the unkept grass. The wet autumn and winter curtailed preperations for the season such as grass cutting,plant pruning etc so this little flower is a sign of hope and a lot of work ahead.

I awoke with a stiff back and sore hips .I put this down to about 3 miles of my walk yesterday being on asphalt or tarmac a very unforgiving surface for walking on On the plus side my lungs are in good shape and my blood pressure was normal on my return. I set off in suuny weather for my first proper walk for a long time i walked along the beach to Thorny Nook and with no flood warnings I carried on,halfway down I turned a bend and was confronted by flood water.Now I had the choice of retracing my steps or risk wet feet. From Friday aftertoon the latest storm hit.IA bad time as two high spring tides were also due, with 70mph + winds and very heavy rain we had flooding in the lower parts of the island and the seal cam was wrecked. With Saturday's trip to town a no go I spent 2 days cabined up again.I did manage a trip to mother's on Monday but yeterday was another wash out. After my morning trip to see mother I had lunch then decided to take advantage of a lovely day and wander off. I only planned a couple of miles or so down to the lttle wilderness valley There was very little of interest after this evergreen welcomed me to the pathway. The sky was lovely and blue but the trees were as naked as a nudist, I took a couple of zoom shots across the valley at a horse with his pony companion before climbing the hill towards the roadway. I awoke to grey skies and before I finished my first coffee I noticed snow falling. It wasn't much but I took a snap anyway 10 minutes later I noticed bigger flakes falling and though maybe we are in for a proper snowfall. It wasn't to be 20 minutes later the snow stopped and with the help of some hazy sunshine the snow has just about gone.

After a long spell of dismal wet weather today was all change. I looked from my bedroom window on arising and saw everything outside covered in a white layer of frost and ice and it was cold. I sorted the cats out had a warm drink and prepared for my first walk in a while. The temp outside was -2c not the weather to dawdle in. The hope for a good year has not taken off yet. Although my body is in better shape the continuing lousy wet misty weather is keeping me grounded. I had my yearly check up at the doctors on Thursday and the nurse was pleased with blood pressure,lung power and weight. I have to await the blood results but as they have always been good I am not worried about that. Today I have been grounded by sleet but as it's weekend I have plenty of sport to watch. maybe tomorrow will be better.

It's early day but so far the new lifestyle is working well. I got a free delivery slot for Sunday lunch which meant I did't have to go to town on a rainy Saturday. To get free delivery I have to spend £35 more than a normal week but with the new mostly meat order and the veg I already have I easily have enough for 3 weeks or more meals.I will see how it goes and when the time is right re-order, next time more mixed with fruit and veg as well as meat. After a long hard battle trying to beat back trouble caused by years of fixing farm machinery in fields and barns in all weathers and sports injuries I am waving he white flag. This means changes in my lifestyle I knew would happen sometime. My GP has told me what not to do ,what to do less and what to carry on with. The list isn't good but I have no choice if I want to stay mobile. No more lugging heavy shopping, no more ladders not even stepladders,the latter because the back spasms are…

After the terrible weather the seals have returned and the pup count is up since I last looked in.You will see some here they are white or pale grey and smaller of course. My mother is moving in with my youngest sister over the next week so I may be needed to give a hand. As the house in in the same part of town but an extra mile away from me I won't be strolling around the rezza spotting birds on the way.A seperate day with the fancy takes me is the plan for that
