The weekend is going badly. Yesterday I discovered the front door lock was broken in the locked position. I waited until Ellen came home to see if by any chance her key would unlock it bit no joy. The wind was gusting to 50mph and the rain was hammering down So I decided to wait until this morning to go over and buy a new one. The weather was no better but I had to brave it. With this weather promised until Tuesday I decided to get the other things I needed while I was out. The wind got even stronger and I was knackered and soaking wet when I returned. I had a rest and some lunch before tackling the door. I had to chisel a piece out of the frame to enable the door to open which is not a big deal and easily repaired. Then things got worse the lock mechanism is metric size and the broken on being very ancient is imperial. The differences are not much but just enough to but the top hole in the new lock half on and half off the door casement hole. Bugger! I was studying how to fettle this when my back went into spasm and I had to sit on the bottom of the stairs for 15 minutes before I could hobble back in. I took a couple of pain killers and settled into my vibrating chair hoping for comfort. My back eased after a while which is just as well as Ellen is away visiting friends for the weekend. I stirred and made myself a flask of coffee and sank back into my chair. I am about to hobble back there now and hopefully can catch up later. Stay safe people

Same sort of weather here too, though our men promised a warm sunny day with showers.
The gale has subdued since sundown (Hidden behind black clouds) the only visible damage being those stupid bins as usual.
Take it easy and keep warm.
