Thanks for the messages yesterday folks.
This morning feeling much better I started on the pesky door lock. Because the position of the latch bolt and dead bolt are in a different on the new lock the top screw to hold it in the frame was hitting mid air which was a bummer. The solution I came up with was to saw a short piece of thin steel plate with holes in bolt one to the hole in the lock and screwed the other to the door frame. It works a treat after a little fettling making the apeture wider. So I replaced the handle tested the lock and all worked perfectly. Only the striker plate to do and a small repair on the frame, only 2 screws to go and I could clean up and rest. But (there's always a but) I had the a problem with the dead bolt catching the bottom edge of the keeper apeture.I was about to chisel some wood out when my back went into spasm again which was a bugger. So I am back on the massage chair typing this, not easy with the vibrations.
