We had a truly dismal day yesterday with gales and rain lashing us until late evening. Jenny phoned at 11 as usual to brighten up the day and we chatted on until nearly midnight.
I had a couple of cats to feed and a beer to get before settling down to catch up on a recording I had made earlier all went well until 12:30 when darkness descended like a black cloak. I fumbled for my wind up camping torch which I keep close by and went to collect my USB charged battery. I turned the laptop back on and with over two hours battery left plugged the light into that, now for my battery powered lantern,I don't keep the batteries in it but beside it. To my horror I found the battery holder had broken so that was useless. Still 3 light sources were ample for sitting neck a Guinness. I checked from the windows and all was black as far as I could see so taking my wind up lamp I checked upstairs, from a front window all was dark apart from a faint glow on the horizon from the direction of the mainland. From the back it was the same apart from out at sea the red warning lights of 300 wind turbines blinked mocking back at me,the big useless lumps. Returning down stairs A poured a brandy to go with my Guinness and just sat there enjoying the perfect silence,it lasted a few minutes and then was shattered by two marauding cats running helter skelter through the house. Time for bed I thought and toddled off.
Today started a lot better the rain and wind have stopped, the power came back at 3 am and all was well again.
I decided it was the ideal weather for a trip to see my old mam so I caught a bus some of the way and walked the last mile or so,we caught up on family news and had a general chin wag about life before I walked the mile back to the bus stop and home again. Time for lunch catch up later

Hope all is fine again.
Those useless lumps only work on fine day with a steady wind Summer, which is when the national grid doesn't neede the power so they pay them to turn off. On nights like last night they have to be closed down so the wind doesn't tear them apart
