I haven't worked out whether these are Lesser or Greater Black-backed Gulls. They do seem to have the darker backs of the Greater.

It wasn't the dog that made the puddle - it was the sea washing in from the marina, on the left of the photo.

It is unusual to see this much of the lifeboat, when it's moored beside the RNLI station.

The Ouse used to be navigable up as far as Lewes, but anything larger than a cabin cruiser can't get further than the incinerator - the building with the rounded roof and two tall exhaust stacks. The river runs between high clay banks most of the way to Lewes, with fields on either side, about 1 - 2 metres below the river bank top. On a day like this there is often seepage through the banks.
