Newhaven high tide - Sussex Ouse - 9.10.2014

Newhaven high tide - Sussex Ouse - 9.10.2014
The Ouse used to be navigable up as far as Lewes, but anything larger than a cabin cruiser can't get further than the incinerator - the building with the rounded roof and two tall exhaust stacks. The river runs between high clay banks most of the way to Lewes, with fields on either side, about 1 - 2 metres below the river bank top. On a day like this there is often seepage through the banks.
