Garden Spider (+PiP)

After moaning about not finding any spiders in the garden this year, I eventually found one yesterday. It was a bit windy for macro photography, but after a few tries I eventually got a couple of shots I was happy with. The other shot is in the PiP. I think this is best viewed large, but I understand that some of might not think so :-))

Normally at this time of year my garden would be full of spiders, but this year we've had very few. I took this one a week or so ago.

Spiderlings (not at all scary)!

29 Apr 2022 23 23 242
About this time of year I start looking for spiderlings. I couldn't find any in the back garden, but as my wife was putting out the garden waste bin for the recycling people to collect she found these in a web around the bin lid. So we had to delay putting out the bin so I could get a decent photo and then I picked them up carefully up and relocated them to a small flower pot in the corner of the garden. If you can stand it, please view large for best effect. It's always difficult to get these completely in focus as they don't really stop moving :-) For Macro Dreams Chalenges: multiples, Insects, repetition.

A "ball" of Garden Spider Spiderlings

07 May 2020 19 19 211
Taken in my garden. The "ball" is about the size of a £1 coin and each spiderling is around 2mm across. Please view large, on black for best effect. If you want to be really adventurous use the "Actions" menu, then "See all sizes" and view the original size! The next image shows what happens when you touch a "ball" and the spiderlings scatter.

Scattering Spiderlings

Taken in my garden. This is what happens when you touch a "ball" of baby spiders - they all scatter away! If you go back in half an hour, they will have returned and re-formed. Over the next few days they will gradually go off on their own. (See my previous image for the "ball". Please view large, on black for best effect. If you want to be really adventurous use the "Actions" menu, then "See all sizes" and view the original size!

Lurking in my garden (with dozens of others)..!! I like the background bokeh in this shot, it reminds me of military camouflage! If you can bear it, it looks much better viewed large, on black.
