Since the 10th century, the Puy is one of the starting points of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The crowds of pilgrims come to venerate the famous Black Madonna of Puy. Pilgrims starting their journey to Santiago de Compostela gather to be blessed each morning in the cathedral.
