Einen Tag nach Beginn des Überfalls russischer Truppen auf die Ukraine (24.02.2022) besuchte ich eine Ausstellung in der Kunsthalle Schweinfurt, wo ich dieses Kunstwerk von Böhler & Orendt "Blossoms of Splendor" fand. Es ist ein Holzkubus, der mit Graberde gefüllt ist und in dem sich 400 kleine Kreuze mit bemalten Eichelhütchen befinden. Die Intention dieses Kunstwerks hat eigentlich mit Krieg nichts zu tun (siehe Erläuterung im PiP), man wird aber unwillkürlich an ein Kriegsgräberfeld erinnert. Kaum jemand konnte nach Beginn des Krieges gegen die Ukraine ahnen, wie lange dieser mörderische Krieg dauern würde und wieviel Leid und wie viele Opfer zu beklagen sein werden. It is a wooden cube filled with burial soil and containing 400 small crosses with painted acorn hats. The intention of this work of art actually has nothing to do with war (see explanation in PiP), but one is involuntarily reminded of a war grave field. Hardly anyone could have guessed after the war against Ukraine began how long this murderous war would last and how much suffering and how many victims would have to be mourned. I was very touched by this work of art at the time.

Im Bild einige alte Weidenbäume, die von Kormoranen (Phalacrocorax carbo) als Rastplatz aufgesucht werden. Eine Kormoran-Nahaufnahme, die ich in Berlin machen konnte, befindet sich im PiP. Erstaunlich ist, dass sich zwei Gruppen gebildet haben, die deutlich räumlich getrennt sind. Das Bild entstand im Vogelschutzgebiet Garstadt, in dem auch die vorausgegangenen Bilder entstanden sind. Anfügen möchte ich noch, dass bei der Heimfahrt von dieser Wanderung am 13.2.2022 ganz in der Nähe von uns ein Weißstorch auf einer Wiese gesichtet worden ist. Es ist bekannt, dass seit einigen Jahren viele Störche nicht mehr nach Afrika ziehen, sondern in Spanien überwintern. Auch weiß man, dass mittlerweile einige Störche bei uns im relativ milden Winter überwintern. It is known that for some years now many storks no longer migrate to Africa, but spend the winter in Spain. We also know that some storks now spend the winter in our relatively mild climate. Diese Wasser-Landschaft ist aus einem ehemaligen großen Sand- und Kiesabbaugebiet entstanden, das nicht wieder verfüllt, sondern nur renaturiert wurde und so eine hohe ökologische Wertigkeit erlangte. Das Schutzgebiet kann nur umrundet und an wenigen Stellen auch Einblick genommen werden. Ein Betreten des Innenraums ist streng verboten. Im Vogelschutzgebiet Garstadt (bei Schweinfurt am Main) ist inzwischen auch ein Vogelbeobachtungsturm mit einigen Informationstafeln gebaut worden, von dem aus man einen guten Überblick über das Schutzgebiet hat und Vögel beobachten und fotografieren kann. Im Bildvordergrund links schwimmend im See Enten und Blässhühner, hinten auf dem See Graugänse. Ein Teil des Sees ist noch mit Eis bedeckt, denn in der Nacht war es sehr kalt.
