1956 Sunbeam Talbot - OSG 244

Pretty sure my parents had one of these way back, either before I was born or when I was very, very young. Which might explain why I've always had a soft sport for them ... simply gorgeous they are.

The Avenger was manufactured under the Hillman marque by the Rootes Group from 1970 until 1976. Named to evoke memories of the Sunbeam Tiger, the Avenger Tiger concept began as a publicity exercise before the Tiger model itself was launched in 1972. Modifications included the 1500 GT engine with an improved cylinder head with enlarged valves, twin Weber carburettors and uprated suspension. A distinctive yellow colour scheme with a bonnet bulge, rear spoiler and side stripes was standard, set off with "Avenger Tiger" lettering on the rear quarters. Close up shot of that 'beastly' Humber Super Snipe from earlier ... got to say I do like this car!

Beauty and beast all wrapped up in one ... sadly not that many of these still around!

1968 Sunbeam Rapier - WGC 265F

27 Dec 2014 3 4 954
The Sunbeam Rapier was produced by the Rootes Group from 1955 to 1976. This is a fastback coupé version from 1968, which like the earlier Series models was a two-door pillar-less hardtop. Interestingly, it was only first registered in the UK in 1982.

Sunbeam Rapier - Details Unknown

The Sunbeam Rapier was the first of the "Audax" range of light cars produced by the Rootes Group, as announced at the London Motor Show in October 1955. Although designed "in house", it was supposedly inspired by the new-generation Studebaker coupés of 1953. Without the registration number to check the DVLA records I'm unsure exactly which year this one was made. However, from the design elements it has to be either a Series III, which was introduced in 1959, or a Series IIIA which was introduced in 1961.

1992 Honda Concerto 1.5i - J705 THN

13 Apr 2014 1121
Spotted in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. Maybe not a classic, but now over 20 years old and a rare sight on our roads. The Honda Concerto was co-developed by Honda and the Austin Rover Group, derived from the Civic and produced from 1988 until 1994. Honda stopped manufacturing the Concerto in Great Britain when its partner, Rover, was taken over by BMW.

1969 Hillman Super Imp - PHP 349G

10 Apr 2014 3 3 1717
The Hillman Imp was a compact, rear-engined saloon car, manufactured under the Hillman marque by the Rootes Group from 1963 through until 1976. The Imp was assembled at a then new, purpose-built plant at Linwood near Paisley in the West of Scotland. Find out more about these great little cars by following the link below: www.imps4ever.info

1966 Amphicar - FOT 423D

09 Apr 2014 5 12 1121
The Amphicar is, as you can probably guess simply by the name and its appearance, an amphibious automobile. In the Sixties, the German vehicle was manufactured by the Quandt Group who only made around 4,000 of them meaning that today they are highly sought after novelties.

1963 Humber Super Snipe - 651 EMO

05 Feb 2014 1 768
The Humber Super Snipe is a car which was produced from 1938 to 1967 by the British-based Humber car company, part of the Rootes Group. I've read reports that the Series IV featured a Snipe bird badge on the grille, which would suggest that this is a Series IV. However, the same report said that it was introduced in 1964 whereas this car was manufactured in 1963, which would make it a Series III ... any Humber buffs out there able to say for definite either way?

1965 Hillman Super Minx - DMW 18C

The Hillman Super Minx was a motor car from the British Rootes Group. It was a slightly larger version of the Hillman Minx. This beauty from 1965 is a MkIII example.
