Hauptsitz der Französischen Kommunistischen Partei in Paris - headquarters of the French Communist Party, Paris, France - Comité National du Parti Communiste Français Oscar Niemeyer, the famous Brazilian architect, died yesterday on December 5, 2012, ten days before his 105th birthday. Three years ago I had the chance to take a picture of the office building he designed for the PCF 1967-1972. Most people will remember his name in connection with the capital of Brazil, Brasilia, and also with the United Nations headquarters in New York (which he planned together with Le Corbusier).

Besides the classical view I wanted something less common, so I fiddled with the picture in silver efex pro and came up with this holga-effect image. Doesn't it look like a haunted house? Hamburg: Blick vom Turme St. Petris auf die neue Konzerthalle in der HafenCity, errichtet auf der Basis eines alten Kaispeichers - die Skandale und die in schwindelerregende Höhe gestiegenen Baukosten erinnern mich an das Sydney Opera House. Hamburg: View from the steeple of St Peter's over at the new Concert Hall in the HarbourCity, which is being erected on the base of an old warehouse. This is our equivalent to the Sydney Opera House, what with all the scandals and the costs rising to staggering heights - and still no end.
