It was December of 1991. I was somewhere between Ipho and Georgetown see,.. I came across this temple full of cobras. Someone said, "Hey Jim, why don't you..." I was a lot younger then so I did!

None of the monkeys I saw in Malaysia were in zoos, they were all wild, hanging around temples or in the jungle.

These guys were NOT the 'see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil' monkeys. If you run in to them hold tight on to your sun glasses, your camera, etc.! On the Malaysian peninsula.

This was painted in a cave in Malaysia

I took this picture of this guy in 1991 in Malaysia, near Ipoh. I just transferred this image from slide to digital.

Once upon a time in Malaysia

Ah yes it was 1991 and I was a mere lad of 53…. -grin- I just (just now, not back in 1991) cobbled together a lens and slide mounting system that I can attach to my digital camera to make digital copies of slides I took years ago. Hence I just copied this slide to test the unit. The boat in the picture was in a canal in Malaka (sometimes spelled Melaka or Malacca), in Malaysia on the Straits of Malacca, by the way. A couple of years back I purchased a slide to digital copier, but this jury rigged system gives me a much better, crisper, image.

In Malaysia, I started down here, near the tip of the peninsula and traveled up toward Thailand. Today I was thinking of buying a slide/negative scanner to transfer some of these old pictures to digital but... I have this old unit that I could mount on my old Minolta, film camera, to make dupes (duplicates) of slides. Alas, it wouldn't fit on my digital camera. Soooo I just finished making an adapter to mount it on my digital. These two pictures are the result of that experiment. Hum. I don't think I need to buy the scanner, what do you think?
