You've got the most powerful being on the planet under your control and the most ambitious caper you can concoct is looting an armored car? On top of that, the Rainbow Raider's advertised on the cover to be an alien! Wouldn't an alien rather steal some Palladium or some cabbage seeds or something?

One of the perks of leafing through an old comic is unquestionably the ads - for everything from hordes of plastic army men and Red Ryder B.B. guns to bodybuilding courses and dance instruction to giant balloons and cardboard forts - and, in the case above, ads for other comic books!
Looking back in our rear-view mirror, some of the issues advertised are of course mundane; others, however, like the ad pictured above for the first issue of The Justice League of America, fuel the imagination.
Ironically, these ads tend to appear in companion magazines which are not themselves all that significant, but had that shiny dime been spent instead on the book pictured, it could be worth thousands!
