Panic was published by E.C. comics, who also published a similar and better-known satire comic called Mad Comics , which eventually became Mad Magazine . Like most E.C. comics of the day, Panic featured four stories by comic art heavyweights like Bill elder, Jack Davis, and the great Wally Wood. Panic is one of a handful of titles that E.C. published after the Comics Code Authority (C.C.A.) was established, usually designated as their short-lived "New Direction" titles. The C.C.A. effectively did away with the more popular E.C. books like Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror. This issue features a spoof of Rex Morgan entitled "Rx Migrane M.D." by Bill Elder as well as Jack Davis' look at the American drive-in theatre. The cover is of course a take-off on the popular celebrity rag of the day, Confidential. Great stuff. Panic issue No. 9 - July 1955.

The cover satire of a box of Wheaties predates Wacky Packages by more than a decade! Panic issue No.11 - November 1955.
