The low winter sun shining through a fence reinforced with a fiberglass screen. HFF to all out there! Wish you a colorful, light filled weekend!

light games

My husband is redoing the roof on our old shed, so for the time being it is roofless and sunlight gets to play games on its weathered, pockmarked walls.

As you probably already know, the whole of Italy is on lockdown. No traveling except for work or health reasons. Many of us now working from home. Yesterday also all non-essential shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and patisseries were ordered to shut down. I took this shot a while ago, when I noticed a sliver of sunlight from an open window hitting some colorful knick-knacks on my cluttered shelf, but I thought it would help to visualize how it feels to be confined to our homes and looking for little things in our familiar surroundings that help us keep our hopes of seeing the end of this soon ... So, hello everyone, from locked-down Italy.

fences and shadows - PiPs

Just playing around with light and fences. HFF everyone! In the first pip: a man with a hoodie walking behind the railroad fence cast an ominous shadow on the sunlit fence poles (I took this through a none-too-clean train window, so quality is not the best). In the second pip: sort of a shadow selfie as the morning light cast long shadows ;)

winter sun frolicks

The low winter sun selectively lighting up the branches of a bare tree in my garden seemed to make an interesting abstract.

morning on the bridge

16 Jan 2020 17 18 242
Morning comings and goings on the Santa Trinita Bridge, under the watchful eye of the statue representing Summer. The bridge, originally build from a design by Michelangelo, was bombed during WWII and painstakingly rebuilt afterwards. The four statues (representing the four seasons) were also fished out of the river and reinstated at the heads of the bridge. For years, Spring's head was believed lost but was eventually retrieved in 1961.

late sun shining through the fence - PIP added

Taken from the pedestrian walkway that runs parallel along the railway bridge over the Ardo (tributary of the Piave River) HFF, everyone! - I have added a PIP to show the tunnel-like fencing from a different angle.
