This is my local covered market. It's one of the biggest and best value markets in Madrid. I wanted to take a number of photos but only took this one, as yet again I was stopped by security and told in no uncertain terms that photography is prohibited (What is it with Spain on matters such as this? I wish I knew!). I wanted to take much more interesting photos than this!

Outside my flat on another stormy day.

Cuatro Caminos, Madrid. This is in the north of the city centre. Those to the south really copped it! There was plenty of thunder and lightning but I have never managed to capture lightning with a camera. There must be a knack to it! I have just seen one half of an idiot on a motorised scooter on the roundabout (a dangerous one at that) in these conditions. I know they've been banned in London but they are everywhere here and a menace to pedestrians and to other road users alike. It is astonishing to me just how many are left after use in the middle of a pavement for a blind person or a pensioner to fall over. I have been known to place such offending scooters in the nearest skip!

I live in a flat on the left and in the middle where the interesting windows are is a music school and if the wind is in the right direction I get wafts of wonderful music! Yes, the storm broke that evening!

Where two well-known Madrid streets meet, Calle de Bravo Murillo and Calle Santa Engracia (my street) at Cuatro Caminos. I live very near here and on a summer's evening you can hear excellent music over the rooftops from the music school situated in the interestingly-shaped building seen here.

Close to my flat, these are the ranks of BICIMAD bikes - the Madrid equivalent of Boris Bikes (a poor misnomer in its own right by all accounts). The Madrid name amuses my immature schoolboy sense of humour! ,

My flat is in one of the apartment blocks on the left. I took this shot tonight on returning from a late class. The storm had been threatening to break all day, it still hasn't and the atmosphere is sultry, menacing, sticky, unpleasant. You know what I mean.

Dedicated cycle lanes being built at the expense of parking for the residents. That's progress, I suppose. It means my girlfriend now can't park outside, but has to trawl the side streets for hours looking for a parking space. :o)
