This aptly named formation is along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive in Big Bend National Park. We had been there the day before and stopped again on our way back north to our campsite for the night at Paint Gap Hills. On another note, my presence here will be sporadic for a few weeks since we leave tomorrow morning on a cross-country trip to see family, especially my elderly parents and those of our children who live in Michigan.

One of our last stops on the second day of our stay in Big Bend was at Mule Ears Overlook. We had our evening meal there before going on to our campsite. We had talked about hiking to the formation known as Mule Ears but were too tired and so just took photos from the overlook.

This formation is known as Mule Ears for obvious reasons. It is on the southwest side of Big Bend National Park along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. There is a trail from the overlook to the formation and a nearby spring but we did not hike it.
