Photographed along the road in Hayden Valley on the southwest side of Yellowstone National Park, this bull Bison has been rolling in the dust. Hayden Valley is a wonderful place to look for wildlife and the other two photos are of a herd of Elk and of a Great Blue Heron.

This herd of Elk was photographed across the yellowstone River in Hayden Valley, a wonderful place to see wildlife in Yellowstone National Park. They are probably moving up into higher country for the summer. The photo was taken by my wife.

This Great Blue Heron and American Widgeon, were photographed along the Yellowstone River in Hayden Valley on the southwest side of Yellowstone National Park.

We have been traveling round the lower loop of Yellowstone's main road starting at the west entrance and heading clockwise around the upper west side of the loop and the across the north to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Now we had south along the east side of the loop and come to Hayden Valley, a great place to watch for wildlife and a beautifully scenic area upriver from the canyon. These photos were taken at different times of the year and most of them have Amethyst Mountain in the background, if I am not mistaken.

Hayden Valley is the valley of the Yellowstone River which runs from south to north through the valley. The valley is a wonderful place to see wildlife and is scenic in its own right.

This is Hayden Valley, the valley of the Yellowstone River, and a very scenic area of Yellowstone National Park. It is also a wonderful place to look for wildlife, especially Bison and Elk.

Hayden Valley is on the southeast side of Yellowstone National Park, and though relatively free of thermal activity, is an area that should not be missed because of all the wildlife there. We saw both elk and bison on the evening this photo was taken. As I noted in a previous post, we have moved to eastern Washington and have been busy the past few weeks with remodeling our new home. Three of our children and the wives were here last week to help with the work and there was little time for Ipernity.
