Spooky Autumn

As Halloween draws near we can well imagine a few spooks behind these trees as the light starts to dim. However for me with my camera this is an excellent time of year for the reds and golds of autumn.
Taken in my local Tandle Hill park.

As autumn really takes a hold here in Oldham’s Tandle Hill Park, I am reminded how lucky I am to have such scenes on my doorstep. Having just returned from a trip to New England, USA, famed for its Autumn colours, we never saw scenes quite like this on our quick visit. It is said that this year is a good year here for Autumn colour as it has been so wet. It looks like that may be so.
Enjoy full screen.
I must admit that New England had far more red's in the trees though.

Another capture from our local Tandle Hill park. Not the first time I have shown this footbridge but I make no apology for showing yet another view of it here for our HFF group. The truth is, I just love this little spot!
I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb

Another view from this wonderful natural park of Tandle Hills here in my hometown of Oldham. On this morning everything came together for a most wonderful walk through autumn reds, yellows and gold, enhanced by the thick leaf drop here. Listening carefully, I could just hear the soft susurration of this part of the woods, whilst watching the squirrels running to hide their nuts. The fence accompanies a flight of steps to the valley bottom and a small foot bridge of previous acquaintance (PiP).
Essential full screen. I wish you all, a great weekend

As snow grips our area, I swiftly take the opportunity to grab some shots whilst in this area. A great time for sledging and families. A long time since I last saw snow in here so early in the winter.

Another look at our Tandle Hills Park here whilst heading down from its highest point. Crampons and ropes advised!
The park consists of approximately 110 acres (45 ha), a combination of beech woodland and open grassland.

Once again my local Tandle Hills Park takes centre stage for a fence. This time in the heart of Autumn and demonstrates just what a beautiful season this can be. For me though, the large centre tree tales the prize for dragging my eyes to that marvellous trunk pattern and light.

Just twelve months ago a walk into our town country park called Tandle Hill showed me scenes like this. This little wooden bridge gets one across the tiny brook to explore the hills on our left. I was up here just last week with hardly any leaf golds yet but a lot of squirrels making the most of the autumn nut bonanza.
Enjoy full size.
Have a great weekend. Herb
