Arched pier

Taken at Norman Hill reservoir. This shows a view to the access pier for the freshwater flows. The piers are a frivolous piece of Victorian architecture so common once upon a time. Made to last and last it did! I enjoyed the light here.

Have a good weekend.

An arched pier to the inspection point on Norman Hill Reservoir catches my eye with this wonderful light. This is near Piethorne reservoir above Newhey, Rochdale. See PiP
HFF and have a great weekend.
A classic fence, a classic reflection

A frosty fence provides a nice foundation for this Piethorne reservoir reflection taken just a week or so back. We walked around the perimeter of this reservoir. Our rather stark hills often take on this colour in the low sun of the day.

Nine sheep a-grazin

I never tire of seeing the faces of sheep as I pass nearby. They look upon me with wide eyes as if they want to say something like “do we know you –are you the farmer?”
These seen near the Piethorne reservoir in Rochdale (the next town to my home town).
Best at full screen. Enjoy the day.
Piethorne in the frost

A fitting start to my photo outings of 2024 and a rare touch of sunshine along with a cold frosty morning brings us back to this local reservoir. I have been here many times but not in this weather. I like the soft tones here and even the power-lines look exactly right, almost touching the roof of that building. The PiP shows another view taken just over three years ago.

A historical look at one of my local reservoirs here. Its Piethorne reservoir and this gate reflects its heritage connection to my local town of Oldham and the now defunct Oldham Corporation Waterworks. It had control of quite a few reservoirs for our drinking water but now all that is controlled by a conglomerate area organisation. This gate looks like it has been recently created and painted. The footpath entrance is just a meter or so to the right.
Enjoy the weekend.
Spot the dog!

Despite very strong winds we still make the effort to take exercises at least twice a week. Here we are back again at Piethorne reservoir not too far from home, walking along the dam wall with the water to our left. The girl with her wind blown hair-do and the dog on a lead gives us an extra bit of attention and perhaps a smile amongst this plethora of fences.
See PiP for the full reservoir scene.
Enjoy full screen and have a great weekend.

Piethorn Reservoir: A first look at this reservoir for us on this new walk only a few miles from home. This is one of six reservoirs all near to each other above the village of Newhey, Rochdale. This 180° view is made from a stitch of 4x 6000x4000 landscape photos before reduction for Ipernity upload.
I was just about to upload this before Ipernity collapsed last year.
**A Big thank you to all involved in fixing the technical problems here. - What would we do without you!**
Wishing you all a very happy photographic future back here in Ipernity.
Keep safe.
