I once had this idea to live in Portugal because I barely speak any Portuguese. So I figured that, as a result, I would hardly be involved in any misunderstandings with the population and my life would be peaceful... :-)))

People here are not aggressive. Not better or worse than anywhere else, but usually calm and smiling people.

Surely it must be time to start using sisal or wool rope to prevent this sort of thing from permanently polluting our environment.

Should be, but most important would be food industries and supermarkets presenting everything under plastic, the great source of pollution is there... not in this blue ropes or twines always in use and re-used.

Especially agriculture which uses tons of plastic sheeting on their fields!
At least our local fruit or eggs come in recycled cardboard boxes, the stuff from far away comes in hard plastic even when it's organic.
So, buy local, buy on markets! And if you can't, leave the plastic packaging at the supermarket.... If everyone did that, they'd soon grow tired of having to get rid of all that;-)

I almost never go to a supermarket, we are lucky to have biological natural food there all year round, so I eat seasonal products only.
