Could this be a rules dispute?

Croquet on the lawn. Nobody swung a mallet in all the time I watched but plenty of pointing, so I think there was a dispute over the scoring or the rules OR perhaps it was all about where to have a post match gin and tonic or would it be Pimm’s?
