Beautifully caught. You are right about the need for bees (and all other insects, actually - even midges and mosquitoes).

You are right, the world needs bees, but not only on World Photography day... Because a world without bees could struggle to sustain the global human population.
There is a quote (I think it's from Albert Einstein) that says that if the bee disappeared from the surface of the globe, humanity would have four years of life left as food crops would have no one to pollinate them!

Only certain photographers can make me like insect photos - well, you are one of them!

And the bee is on a 'globe' also! How appropriate.
We have had many more bees and other insects this year. It is a lovely thing.

Did you know you wanted to photograph a bee for the World Photography Day event? Or was it a happy delight to come across?

Happy (belated) World Photography Day!

Thanks Laura, I was looking for butterflies but sadly there are so few around this year. Many parts of the country are noticing fewer insects in general, some are calling it an ‘insect apocalypse’. It’s bad news and probably more worrying than all the other bad news.

Yes the globe thistle is very photogenic and fitted the remit.
Best Wishes Colin
