morning of 27/6 the fires are far and wide hard to deal with and flaring up in gentle wind blowing towards Greater Manchester - its national news now so you will probably see this.

Thanks. Not good news. I'll have to buy The Times, to get the details (as at yesterday, anyway). I buy it from time to time for teaching purposes as they have some well-written articles I can use in class.

The fire looks much more under control from our view but Army in to help now mostly from the left and over the hill to right of this for access. Hopeful but winds are changing so difficult for anyone to assess. The local farmers/ gamekeepers talking of weeks to be sure its really under control with no rain in the 7-10 day forecast
