My grandfather used to tell me I should be careful with these half-rotted trees by the lake, because when you hit or shake one, the top can come off and fall on your head.
Sure enough I at times then did hit them, but looked up to see the tree break in half and the top fall down

When I was a boy
My big brother held on to my hand
Then he made me slap my own face;
I looked up to him then, and still do
He was trying to teach me something
Now I know what it was
Now I know what he meant
Now I know how it is

In the winters my grandfather used to tell me to watch out for the currents under the ice, which were especially strong around the outermost points of the headland. These weaker spots in the ice are called 'uhku' in Finnish. They also form in spots where there's water sitting on ice, and around large underwater rocks.
When my grandfather got dementia one thing I heard him mention, when he realised it's winter, was for my parents to tell me to watch out for the currents and not walk on the ice near those places, the way he reminded me when I was six years old.
