The protestants destroyed all the pictures and sculptures in the former Catholic German churches in the 16th century. God was NOT to be shown in a picture or sculpture.
And the Catholic missionaries had done the same with the ancient German religious cults as well.
Some islam groups are doing just that today: see the Bamian Buddha caves.
How history repeats itself!!!
There is NO cultural developement taking place, as much as we want to believe.
As you write: "...Religions Come, Religions Go..." , because they are made up by the specific needs of specific people at specific times, certainly no specific GOD here.
