Serenity: Le Canal du Midi

Nach 7 Jahren ist dieses Bild schon ein historisches Dokument. Die schönen Bäume, die den Reiz dieses Wasserlaufs nicht unwesentlich ausgemacht haben, sind inzwischen sämtlichst abgeholzt. Eine Baumkrankheit hat sie weggefressen. Zwar hat man begonnen wieder aufzuforsten; aber das wird dauern und In diesem Leben werden wir einen solchen Blick nicht mehr genießen dürfen. Schade eigentlich !

What a pity, indeed. This water, which reflects these large foliage, their shadows and the duly sun rays that pass through them, is a true haven of peace. Such is this pretty canal wich I like so much - or was, in this place.
