What a Beautiful Church. !!

Like a jewel!

Blimey. Imagine finding that in the middle of what seems like nowhere!!! It's like something out of a weird dream. Sorry for the folk that saw it on their way to misery and probable death. If it were my local church I'd be tempted to get up early one Sunday just to experience it...though I'm sure the novelty wouldn't last long. Great find. The backdrop is gorgeous. You go to some extraordinary places, Di, and thanks for sharing those experiences with us.

The old village is rusting and falling apart, while the newer one is modern and colourful, though small, and fiendishly remote. This is one of the new churches which has been built after the fall of the USSR, when religion was not allowed.
It sure is a standout in this region, where winter lasts 8-9 months of the year.....and the skies are often dark. You would probably end up going regularly as something to do other than drink vodka all the time....not exactly full of things to do, specially when snowed in for 8 months!
