Lovely shot, Di. It's a true wilderness up that way, and the colours are amazing. Far quieter these days, now all the pearl divers have gone! Imagine looking out to sea and seeing dozens of luggers?!

It really is a wilderness, Phill...enchanting! Now, in remote spots up here, they still have the pearl farms...pearling is still a money earner ...but gone are the days of the luggers. And the landscape is so vast, there is still room for thousands of kilometers of wilderness!

They do! I found it all so interesting, and went to Willie Creek north of Broome to the pearl farm there, and spent a ridiculous amount of money on a string of them for my Mum. I reckoned she deserved them after putting up with us kids all these years ;-) WA is one of my all time faves...the vastness and raw beauty I saw on the 10,000km drive was an experience of a lifetime. The further North, the better it got. My heart yearns.

This is up the Dampier Peninsula direct North of Broome...

I agree...WA is stunning....have done two longish camping sojourns there...and have barely scratched the surface. I actually love the vast deserts of the red centre and Northern SA too. The emptiness and vastness are exhilarating.
