I did not know there were uncontacted indigenous people in Australia as late as the 1960s. That's amazing.

It is a HUGE country, and around 95% unpopulated, with vast areas of rarely travelled extreme desert....where the uncontacted people were. Even today there are many indigenous people who live in remote ares who do not speak English, and who are not literate, even though there are schools and teachers provided.
