Memorial artwork in steel
When the old Batemans Bay bridge was dismantled, the Bridge Replacement Project commissioned this steel artwork, made from sections of the former bridge. Another image in the PiPs, plus an explanatory plate and another memorial to the workers on the original bridge. That's the local tourist boat at left. I'd suggest viewing this large.
Looking in, looking out
These benches have been placed in a paved area where once the old Batemans Bay bridge stood. Would you prefer to look towards the opposite bench or away?
Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone.
The new bridge - from the south.
The new Batemans Bay bridge from the southern side, with a mural commemorating the old bridge previously here. Best viewed large. See also PiP (featuring a shopping trolley).

More Camellias
These camellias have been flowering well since March, though some varieties are now beginning to slow. Best on black.
HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

Another departure
Today began with the news of the passing of the singer/actor Olivia Newton-John, who moved from music and movies into active support for cancer research. RIP, Olivia. Here's a link to a clip with her from the movie "Xanadu".
This image taken today in my garden, where the Camellias are in full bloom.
The new bridge - HBM
The new Batemans Bay bridge now has been completed, complete with artworks (see also PiP) and benches. Best viewed large. HBM and have a great week, everyone.

Goodbye Judith
I was very saddened to hear on this evening's news of the passing of Judith Durham, a great singer who became famous as part of the group "The Seekers". Here's a link to one of their chart topping songs. This sunset photo was taken on our former rural property and the higher clouds are Lenticular clouds, formed in mountain wind waves.
Glebe Island Bridge
Heritage listed, the Glebe Island Bridge is an electrically operated swing bridge built in 1903. It has been unused for over 25 years. Best seen from a local ferry (as here). Although local communities wish it preserved, it is being allowed to slowly decay.
Happy Fence Friday and best wishes for the weekend, everyone.
