Historic New Zealand house

Unlike most colonised countries, the British settlement in New Zealand was formalised with a treaty with the local Maori people in 1840. This was the house of the British Resident who was heavily involved in drafting the Waitangi Treaty. When I visited work was being done on the grounds, hence the fence.
