An anniversary image

An anniversary image
Today, being the 75th anniversary of VP Day and the end of WW2, I hope I'll be excused for dipping into the archives. Only a few months later, my father finally came home from the Philippines where he was part of the RAAF No 6 Wireless Unit. Prior to the invasion of the Philippines (in this photo copied from a tiny original print from 1943) he was in a Wireless Unit in Port Moresby, New Guinea.

A wonderful tribute to your father George, and to all the brave men who fought and won the war. I have seen a lot on TV about it lately and it was brutal.
Take care and have a good weekend.

The war years, 1939 to 1945, were truly terrible, and your father was one of the lucky ones, George. is he on this photo?

Thank you, Amelia. Yes, he's on the stairs toward the back and also in the photo I've linked.
