Copied from an old Kodachrome slide and taken in 1965. A free * for their latest image for anyone who can correctly identify this object and its purpose. :-)

Photo from 1964 of (what is now officially the "Old") Queensland Museum and Art Gallery. This was copied from one of my earliest slides, on Anscochrome film which has not aged well - see PiP for the unedited copy. Brisbane now has new museums and galleries, but at least this building has been preserved. The tram tracks and overhead cables have long since gone.
Happy Fence Friday and have a great weekend, everyone.

I've been copying some of my old slides to digital. This one of the Sydney Opera House was from Dec 65, and taken from a Manly Ferry. Copied from a Perutz slide. See also Pip, taken a little later on the trip.
Your choice of walls for Happy Wednesday Wall, have a good week everyone.

Copied from an old slide. One of my colleagues reclining on a Snowtrac vehicle on the edge of the Antarctic plateau, near Mt Henderson just outside Mawson station. The surface is hard snow-free blue ice. As would be expected, how else would a trendy skier travel except in a Porsche-powered vehicle? The Snowtracs had Porsche industrial engines. :-) This one was fitted with sounding equipment for glaciology measurements, Best viewed large.

Today, being the 75th anniversary of VP Day and the end of WW2, I hope I'll be excused for dipping into the archives. Only a few months later, my father finally came home from the Philippines where he was part of the RAAF No 6 Wireless Unit. Prior to the invasion of the Philippines (in this photo copied from a tiny original print from 1943) he was in a Wireless Unit in Port Moresby, New Guinea.
