Araluen letterboxes

A good shot George. Are there still letterboxes in your front doors over there?

An interesting question, Rosa, the short answer is that we don't have letterboxes in front doors. Most houses here are what you call 'bungalows' - free standing within their own yard. In towns and cities each house has a fence with a letterbox mounted. Out in the country, the postie drives a 4WD along the main roads and those living on side roads need to put their letterboxes opposite the side road, as here. The only constraint on letterboxes is that the slot needs to be in a certain height range so the mail can be placed in through the 4WD window.

Thank you for replying George. It got me wondering how many countries do deliver mail through the door. I don't have the answer yet though :)
