Thank you, Gudrun, hat one of the problems, the landscape is so unstable with avalanches and winter snows (not to mention earthquakes). I think they did very well.

Thank you, Marije. Unfortunately there are very few passes through the Southern Alps in New Zealand, though I think this is more suited to the environment than many roads.
