Not far from the partying Royals, the Kings were being far more dignified. The quieter conditions were relaxing for some elephant seals to have a nap, while a Giant Petrel also rests (see note). At Sandy Bay, Macquarie Island.

What I wouldn't give to be standing right here. What a magnificent sight. Such beautiful, amazing, regal birds. Stunning, amazing, wonderful. I love this composition, and I love the dof with the softness of the birds in the bg. I love that there are a couple of other species in the picture to add variety. It's just fabulous. You should frame it and put it on your wall! :)

Thank you so very much for your kind comments, Janet. All I did was take photos, it is the subject matter there that is so amazing. The difficult part is stopping taking photos ... (at the time I took these, memory cards were smaller and far more expensive, so I had a limit).
