saxo-norman overlap in the tower, c.1180; saxon through imposts and central wall column, but norman capital and shaft and proper voussoirs. I think that the work here has been done by a saxon who has learned from the normans at chichester, but when he can't find an exact norman alternative , falls back on saxon designs. there are no belfry windows at chichester, so he updated the saxon one in the original belfry one storey below.
