Any ideas what this shows? The guy on the right seems to wear a roman helmet, but I doubt that a c.12 carver would know what that looked like, and it's anyone's guess what the left hand figure is holding. Maybe it's Pilate washing his hands ?

This monument like an immovable font cover is to the Duke of Wellington and his victories, and was designed by Carpenter and carved by J.B.Philip in 1853

By Worral to a Lonsdale design of c.1895 , this window is indicative of the problems from which the Burges extension suffers, i.e.the death of Billy Burges 12 years before building began. To see what effect he had on such a design see the Jesse at Winscombe, Somerset where the lancets are tight bright jewels singing like angels in the shadowy chancel.
