a new artwork in the church, a thing to be applauded. technically skillful, as these figures are ceramic, and their monochrome finish fits in well here. I'm not sure that their current position is the best: it seems somewhat temporary, especially the box that they stand on, but I'm sure that they'll find their place and settle in eventually. I presumed that the ascension is the subject, but it's a passion group by neal french.. some figures work really well, others seem to be fillers and lack emotional force. still, far better than most modern artwork in churches, and a brave effort at a difficult grouping. always better to aim high than to stay in your comfort zone. these photos don't do the group justice either; it was a freezing cold day: your fingers rebel in some churches in winter, as can your driver.
