high class brickwork on the porch of c.1515, built whilst cardinal wolsey was lord of the manor. it is claimed that his architect giralamo de trevise had a hand in both tower and porch, though all remains gothic. the seating inside, the window tracery, the ogee niche are all brick, with terracotta used in the trefoil corbelling and burnt brick for the patterning.
