above the fireplace of 1810 in the court room is the unusual trefoil headed arcade of 1420. this is an early example of what was to become a favourite brick motif; here it may have been above a plaster hood, though its assymetrical nature is problematic. seen in conjunction with the carved detail of the main ceiling timbers of the room below, it's indicative of the status of the tower's rooms in the d'arcy town house.
