Dumbarton Rock and Sandpoint Marina photographed from the Leven Walkway, Dumbarton

The 4 Engelhardt lifeboats, the 'Titanic' carried, were built in the R. McAlister yard (Sandpoint Marina is now built on the site), which was situated on the right bank of the River Leven in Dumbarton.

'Englehardt collapsible lifeboat C' rescued Joseph Bruce Ismay, the President of the White Star Line. I thought it was 'women and children first'.

I assume this is a stitch up, Joe. It must be nice to have Dumbarton on your doorstep. We have to travel 10 mikes to see a river. Well - I lie a bit, there is a small river in the village called the Perry.

Yes, Amelia, I stitched this one up. I stay very close to the confluence of the River Clyde and the River Leven, so we have two rivers in town, both of which I enjoy photographing. It is lovely having two rivers only a few minutes walk away. Thanks for your very kind comment. All the best, Joe
