Clock and Bell Tower, Balloch Castle

Clock and Bell Tower, Balloch Castle
The architect of the Tudor Gothic building was London-based Robert Lugar, who had designed the nearby Tullichewan Castle in 1792. The building's turrets and crenellations are purely decorative with no defensive value. The lancet windows, tracery, hoodmoulds and blind arrow-slits are all borrowings from earlier building styles. Quoted from Wikipedia.

An attractive tower and good to see that it has been well maintained. Thank you for the information. I am pleased to read it was not used in any conflict!
Cheers, Rosa.

I still haven't found if there is a painting of the original Balloch Castle, Rosa. Part of the moat is still there. I walked past the other day and the water was frozen. Thanks for your very kind comment. Cheers, Joe
