The shot is excellent even if the Admiral is a bit ragged around the edges Joe.

Super shot. I thought what with the early and hot summer, the blackberries would be all over and done with by now! But then I'm talking about the load I picked in Cornwall in the first week of July. Maybe your weather was a bit different! Good that the butterfly got away from whatever it was that had a go!

There are still plenty of brambles on the bushes here, Andy, some of them ripe and some still red. I can remember when it was popular to pick the brambles to make jam, or 'bramble jeely' as it was commonly known here. Cheers, Joe

The danger of going on ip late at night! I meant the beginning of August, not July!!!
As a family we aften still do. We have always called it 'blogging' - nothing to do with going online at all!

That's the first time, Andy, I have heard the word 'blogging' used in this context. Cheers, Joe

The poor Red Admiral looks a little battered Joe, but still beautiful. My neighbour recently made me some bramble jelly. I just make lots of apple and blackberry crumbles! The berries look so good in this picture.
Cheers, Rosa.

I wish I could remember the fable which pointed out that to have butterflies you first must have caterpillars. :)
