Pussy willow twigs are a common Easter decorative item to be used on flower arrangements. But also the Orthodox tradition in Finland is that small children dressed as witches goes from door to door, and exchange the decorated pussy willow twig to chocolate eggs and candy.

Part of the tradition is that the "witch" (kid) also gives a slight spanking with the willow branch and repeats a short rhyme where one wishes good health to the host and reward given as an payment to the witch. So called "witch doctors" they are then ;-)

The catkins are a sign of spring! In Catholic regions of Germany catkins (Palmkätzchen) are traditional for Palm Sunday but I must say I like your "witch" tradition much more:-)
