You can't see it...

You can't see it...
...when it's clear. You can only see the edges (surface). For The Sunday Challenge "Water", I decided to use a waterproofed camera. I took three shots and then decided to show all of them, to illustrate the different phases of the whirlpool.

Diane Putnam, Roger Dodger, , and 20 other people have particularly liked this photo

great idea and execution, though I guess what we're really seeing is air not water :)

Or do we just see the edge between two transparent elements? =D

I blame you and Paul. We just had a big discussion about clockwise and anti-clockwise!

Perfect shot oh wise one! Either way - its great work

I like the way you show the three different stages of this running water.

Thanks =) They looked so cool together and therefore couldn't decide which one would have been best alone.

ok I am confused, (oi careful) is your camera actually under water? or is this just a 'down the drain' photo? I rather like this collage Sami, especially the swirl on the very left shot.

There's no water =P I cheated and made a replica of vortex from plastic wrap...

Only kidding of course ;-) I sure dipped the camera under water. It somehow is obvious I would not see the clear water, and yet it was somehow surprising to find it out =D When one sees underwater images, they are often full of references to the context: fishes, light, color etc. But if all of those are missing, then there's no way to tell whether the picture is taken underwater or not.

Very inventive Sami. The one in the middle reminds me of the water spouts we would sometimes see on the lakes where we used to live. :)

Sami, you are the storm-seeker of the household. :) Very clever indeed. The corkscrew in the first image is a beauty, like a glass sculpting or something.
