Sping, 1963 brought forward for Father's Day

I'm not fond of Father's Day. I don't feel the need for a special day of familial recognition for loving my kids and meeting my family obligations. What's more, it forces me to confront my shortcomings as a dad as well as those of my own father, which still rattle around in my psyche. But "Happy Father's Day", both to the paragons and the imperfect who did the best they were capable of doing.

There are so many Father's Day cards I have to (snicker at and) bypass on the rack.
Very few paragons out there, I'd say - but still, something nice about forcing men to be praised and thanked for the job of Dad they did do, no matter how imperfect.
