happily it's nicer in person, BUT, it is at the top of the stairs to our bedrooms and is only seen in reflection as you climb the stairs and it does startle people (good theft deterent! ha!)

yes! he scares off intruders (actually it's a portrait of my husband from years ago - it just conveniently sits across from a mirror at the top of the stairs to "ghost" someone)
