Daniela, naja, das ist zu dieser Jahreszeit eigentlich üblich. Im Winter kann man an dieser Stelle jeweils fast trockenen Fusses über die Aare spazieren.
Hier bleibt auch immer viel mitgeschwemmtes Kies liegen (dort, wo jetzt "NEIN" steht). Das muss dann im Winter wieder ausgebaggert werden. Damit werden sie wohl nächstens beginnen.

Genau, B.K.! Wobei der dafür notwendige, von mir obig erklärte Umstand den ortskundigen Meinungseinflüsterern natürlich auch wohlweislich bekannt war. ;-)

Gudrun, bin mir gar nicht sicher, ob das nur Farbe ist. Habs beim Ranzoomen aber auch nicht genau erkannt.
Wobei, selbst wenn es Farbe ist; die Streifen sind sicher 2 m breit, das ergibt so um die 180 m2 Farbe! Das musst man auch zuerst mal auftragen! :-)

Aber abgesehen davon, ist das ein hochinteressantes Fleckchen Bern: Die Gebäude auf der Halbinsel und die Häuserreihe unterhalb der Mauer und der Pavillon auf der Terrasse!

Uli, da sprichst du ein wahres Wort gelassen aus. Wir (also ich) stehen hier an einer historisch imposanten Stelle. Es ist die Münsterplattform (im Volksmund "Pläfe"), und links wäre das Münster. Vorne sieht man einen der zwei Eckpavillons in denen heute Restaurant- und Barbetrieb angeboten werden.
Die Häuserzeile unten befindet sich in der => "Matte" , einem Gebiet in dem früher die schlechterprivilegierten Leute, wie Flösser, Fuhrleute wohnten. Um sich von den anderen etwas abzugrenzen, hatten sie eine eigene Sprache, das Mattenenglisch entwickelt. Man konnte dann damit über "die da oben" lästern, ohne dass sie es verstanden. :)

Janet, as you may know Switzerland is a country with a direct democracy. This means, among other things, that every single citizen can start an "initiative" that the whole country has to vote on later on. You need 100'000 signatures to start it.
That means if you think for instance that you should only drive at 50 miles/h on the motorway, you can collect signatures for it. If you have the 100'000 signatures, you can start the initiative and force a vote. If a majority is also in favor, the initiative is accepted and in future it will be driven on the highway only with 50 miles/h, short said. :-)
Now to the picture: There was a vote recently where a certain group of people think that we should vote NO (NEIN). So they wrote this vote proposal in the river's bed :-)

But for your horny goat I would look first for a billy goat ;-)

... oh, not about the picture, but about initiatives instigated by the citizenry -- wasn't there also an initiative to give monetary benefit to farmers who allowed the horns on cows and goats to grow naturally, that interfering with horn growth was painful/inhumane to the animal ? ...
